From humble beginnings...
Having met socially on more than one occasion, it was a natural step to expound the boundaries
of exercise by joining as a troop and forming a new netball team. Delia Bethel, our team
captain, collected the kernel of members from anyone who would care to listen and, from this
motley beginning, an assortment of former players (yeah, like 20 years ago!) and complete
novices (“stop bouncing that ball!”) got together in September last year.
From a state of complete hopelessness (and this includes not actually knowing where to stand
and being convinced that four quarters are clearly too many) the team gradually got used to
having to run places and chuck a round ‘spherey’ thing at each other.
From these humble beginnings our path to success is definitely moving in the right direction
with, on the odd occasion, an actual win. The days of relying on forfeit games for points are
behind us and the future bodes well for endless glorious wins!
Despite our past modesty, we now (somewhat surprisingly, but probably due to the presence of Emma) find ourselves in the top of 3 divisions. All those wanting autographs, please form an orderly queue!
If you wander into The Londoner on a Monday night, feel free to offer the bunch of sweaty but
smiling lasses in red shirts a drink!
