Frank's Corner
The area of the bar near the front door of The Londoner Brew Pub is known as Frank's Corner. It was named after Lt. Col. Frank Olcott, a veteran of three major military conflicts.
Frank was a familiar figure sitting at the bar night after night reading books on WWII beside a lamp provided for him by the Londoner. Frank was always surrounded by pub regulars who became part of Frank's Corner and by the staff of the Londoner who greatly enjoyed his company and his always fascinating stories and memoirs.
Despite his rapidly growing lung cancer, Frank never complained and always had a smile and friendly words for one and all. One of his most famous quotes was:
"I was afraid that WWII would be over before I could serve."
Frank passed away in April 2006. He is survived by a son and daughter by his first American marriage and by his Thai wife and son by his second marriage. He was 79 years of age.
Frank's spirit is in all of us.
